Market love

We went to Marketgirl Boutique Markets on the weekend, they are full of handmade goodies mostly made by mums and mainly aimed at kids, families and women. The talent is so amazing and it always feels more special buying handmade. I took my daughter along and we could'nt resist buying these gorgeous lolli-pops.

Shopping goodies

Just had to share. Out and about shopping yesterday we picked up this totally cute little purse for my daughter. I love the way it looks almost hand made.

Helloooooo!

Yes it's been a while, but with life dealing out one crappy thing after another and being stuck in some sort of creative vacum (well kind of!), it 's been hard to get anything done! So get'n back to the crafty stuff I did finally manage to finish one of those lap quilts for my nana's birthday albiet a month late, but she did'nt mind and thought it was the best gift ever:) Here is a picture of the completed quilt...

I've also been making a zillion of these little babies. They are a complete waste of time but come in handy for popping someting extra into presents (for kids of course!) and adding to lolly bags for parties. I am totally crushing on those rainbow pants, have to say thankyou you to my awesome niece Abby for the inspiration on those :0)

Something else I'm working on right now is these little bunnies as gifts for my daughters party, she'll be turning two and we're going with a bunny theme even though she's head over heals for Dora the Explorer. I'm using a pinwhale cord and a bit of applique to jazz 'em up you get the idea.

Car rubbish bag

Transporting four kids around can generate quite alot of rubbish in the car each week and I'm forever trying to find small bags that will fit in the car to throw the litter in. Finally I made one that fits perfectly in my car and it's reusable so it should last.

 

I used some funky fabric and then made a plastic pocket to line it, also making it reuseable, oh how I like:) The plastic I used was from the cover of a sheet/bedspread packet so it was'nt too thick or you could use the same plastic used to protect table tops. Then I recycled a strap off a school drink bottle cover (of all things!) for the strap on the rubbish bag.

This is cool! - no more hunting for car rubbish bags and no more rubbish piling up in the car. x Jenni

More Matchbox Madness

These are huge time wasters but they are also strangely addictive! I decided to make another one but slightly different this time; and stamped an image onto some white cotton for the doll.  I coloured it in with windup crayons and blanket stiched around and stuffed it to makeit puffy.

The matchbox house was next size up from the last ones I used and I decorated it like a little house embellishing it a bit more this time with felt, trim, lace and buttons and dived into my scrap supplies and used some scrapbook papers.

I also glued some folded paper to the back and drew some little shops, because what little doll does'nt want to go shopping!, and got my daughter to add her touch by colouring it in.

Well it sure brought a smile to someones little face, now to get on with all the things I should have been doing instead of making this!  xJenni.

Mini Monster Matchbox-houses

I remember making little matchbox houses with mini dolls in them with my best friend when I was a kid. I had so much fun making some with my kids recently, and was amazed at how much they liked playing with them!

I used the slightly larger size matchbox to base the house on, and got my kids to colour in the outsides for the house. My daughter went one step further and decorated the wrong side of her elder brothers paper (much to his dismay!), while it was lying around waiting to be photographed. I thought it was so cute I didn't want to glue it down and lose it so I used it to decorate the inside of her mini house:).

I also made some mini monsters to live in them out of felt, in their favourite colours of course! They are a bit fiddly due to their size and blanket stiching around their shape but so cute and worth it.

Ssshh my faourite is my daughter Alisha's, are we mum's allowed to have favourites? I just love her little pictures and the way she'll draw on any paper lying around the place, it used to be annoying now it's a sweet surprise.

A super bathmat

When I saw this and this homemade bathmat on Melissa Goodsell's blog 'One Crafty Mumma', it reminded me of the same type of bathmat my Granny used to have in her bathroom when I was a little girl, funny the things we remember! And I was dying to make one.

 
I've made one of these before and it turned out lovely and soft (It's a bit grubby and worn now so I won't treat you to a view of that one!). This one I made out of a recycled towel and 'meadowsweet' fabric. It looks so bright and fresh and ready for spring, pity winter's really kicking in here:(
